So, at the start of the year i decided i wanted to try a few ideas out photography wise. I had seen some inspiration on line and thought, lets get the ball running!
The idea i most wanted to try was a Milk Bath shoot, for those who haven't heard of it. A milk bath is basically what it says, a bath in milk. the benefits being for photography purposes, a milky effect to the water giving a ethereal look. the benefits for those in the bath is it leaves your skin feeling clean, soft & supple. (Little fact, Cleopatra was a big fan!)
There are different techniques to achieve milk baths, using different types of milk, oils etc. so i wanted to put them to the test before offering these to clients.
I put out a casting call on Facebook for anyone who would be interested in taking part, with the hope that i could do 1 maternity session and maybe 1 newborn session. Well, the response was amazing, i had enquiries coming left right and centre, from all over the country! all this for a bath in milk.
Soon i had over 50+ ladies wanting to take part, how was i going to choose! it was difficult but i narrowed it down to 4 ladies, 3 of whom where pregnant and one with a gorgeous 7 month old baby girl.
then it was time to put a fab team together to make these mummys feel amazing. I could of think of no one better to have work alongside me than the lovely Gemma Rimmington Click here to visit Gemma's Page & the lovely Faye from Tamara's Beautique
I was also fortunate enough to have a wonderful friend at The Spa Hotel, Saltburn. Cathy was fantastic in allowing use to use on of there rooms for the day, providing refreshments for everyone and making it feel like home.
We created a look for each lady, with some beautiful outfits & accessories. then it was ready to roll. Ive shared some of my favourite images from the sessions below, and if your interested in having your own milk bath shoot. then pop me a message, we have a venue available if you can't accommodate, we have a fab team of Make up Artists available to hire, we also have a range of dresses and accessories to finish the look.
Oh, and its not just for pregnant mums to be, we can make this work for Newborns, Infants & Couples.
So have a look through these gorgeous ladies & feel free to leave a comment.
First off we had Jade, who was 30 Weeks pregnant with a little girl. Who is now 4 Week old Eva and just as beautiful as her big sister Freya.
We choose to go for a deep red for Jades look, with such lovely dark hair. which really suited her skin tones.
Next up we had Hayley with adorable baby girl Pippa. Hayley was really keen to do a Breastfeeding session, which i was more than happy to oblige too. Pippa loved being in the water and it was lovely to see such an amazing bond between mother and daughter.
Then we had Emma, who was 7 Month pregnant with little Zanda. we went for a very natural look with emma to show off that beautiful bump.
